Who We Are

The Order of the Thistle Pipes & Drums, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was chartered in March of 1999. We are sponsored, and supported by, the Scottish Rite of New Mexico. Our kilt Tartan is Muted MacDonald. We are a Grade IV non-competition performance band, and an Associate member of The Western United States Pipe Band Association (WUSPBA).
The Order of the Thistle Pipes and Drums is a teaching band and welcomes you to apply for membership. We accept applications from persons ten years of age and up who have a desire to learn the Scottish style of piping and drumming, or who are already an accomplished piper or drummer. Annual dues are ten dollars for members under the age of 18 and twenty dollars for members 18 and up.
Pipers are required to purchase their own practice chanter and bagpipes. Drummers are required to purchase their own practice pad and sticks. Drums are provided by the band. A deposit for the band kilt is required. Uniform accessories are provided by the member.
Our meeting and practice are held each Tuesday in Santa Fe, New Mexico at the Scottish Rite Temple. Student practice begins at 6:30p.m. Regular band practice is from 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. For more information click on Contacts.
